Doha Ramadan Meet urges humanity to rise above divisions

Doha: The 12th Doha Ramadan Meet, an annual event promoting brotherhood and peaceful coexistence, concluded successfully, echoing the urgent need for mutual respect and tolerance. Organized by Youth Forum Qatar in collaboration with the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID), the gathering at Qatar Sports Club emphasized standing up for humanity and combating hate speech.


Prof. Ibrahim Saleh Al-Nuaimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DICID, inaugurated the event, highlighting the importance of such gatherings in fostering solidarity and understanding among people of different cultures, civilizations, and languages. He commended the Youth Forum Qatar for organizing the Iftar gathering for the Indian community for the twelfth consecutive year and emphasized that events like these help spread the values of peace and harmony.


Religious scholar Shrimat Asangananda Giri Swamikal, Secretary of Varkala Sivagiri Madam Guru Dharma Pracharak Sabha, stressed the need to counter growing intolerance and inequality. He called for preserving diversity while rejecting divisive ideologies, referring to the teachings of Sree Narayana Guru, who advocated for equality among all people. He urged communities to resist the rising tide of religious and nationalistic competition and instead work towards peaceful coexistence.


Solidarity Youth Movement Kerala State President Thaweeq K.P. also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of unity at a time when divisions between religions and communities are deepening. He emphasized that the true message of Ramadan is one of solidarity, tolerance, and coexistence. He urged people to stand against sectarianism and communalism, calling for efforts to support the marginalized and reject those who propagate hatred.

Qatar Charity Representative Mohammed Al Ghamidi extended his greetings, recognizing the significance of such initiatives in strengthening societal bonds. The event was presided over by Youth Forum President Binshad Punathil, with Vice President Arif Ahmed delivering the welcome address and General Secretary Habib Rahman expressing gratitude in his vote of thanks. The Doha Ramadan Meet once again reaffirmed its role as a beacon of unity in a divided world.
