Elderly Indian passenger safely repatriated after mid-flight stroke

Doha, Qatar: An elderly Indian passenger who experienced a stroke mid-flight while transiting through Doha has been successfully repatriated to India after receiving emergency medical care at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).


The Embassy of India in Qatar shared this update via social media, accompanied by a video featuring the passenger's son-in-law, who expressed his gratitude in Malayalam to the embassy and Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) officials. He stated, "My father-in-law and I were traveling from the UK to India when this incident occurred. He was admitted to Hamad Medical Corporation. The Embassy and ICBF officials provided invaluable support and assisted with all the paperwork necessary for transit passengers. They remained by our side until we received the fit-to-fly certificate."


Upon arrival, the passenger received prompt medical attention and was stabilized before being authorized for travel. The successful repatriation was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) Qatar, Hamad Medical Corporation, and Qatar Airways, as noted by the Embassy.


The Embassy further expressed its appreciation to all organizations involved for their timely assistance in ensuring the passenger's safe return home as part of this humanitarian mission.
