Doha: HH the
Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has called for the Istisqa (rain-seeking)
prayer to be performed across the country on Thursday morning, November 5,
2026, seeking rainfall from Allah the Almighty. The Amir will perform the
prayer alongside other worshippers at the Lusail prayer ground.
The call was
announced by the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday, corresponding to 25 Jumada Al-Ula
1448 AH. Istisqa prayer is performed in accordance with the Sunnah of Prophet
Muhammad (peace be upon him) as Muslims turn to Allah in supplication and ask
for rainfall.
Salat Al Istisqa
is a special prayer traditionally performed when rainfall is delayed or when
communities are seeking rain. Worshippers gather for prayer and supplication,
with emphasis placed on repentance, seeking forgiveness and asking Allah for
rain and mercy. Qatar regularly holds the Istisqa prayer during the season when
rainfall is sought.
The latest call comes as Qatar enters the period when seasonal rainfall typically becomes more prominent. In November 2025, the Amir also called for the prayer to be performed nationwide and joined worshippers at the Lusail prayer ground.
