Doha: Qatar Media Corporation, in
collaboration with the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA),
organised a seminar titled "Developmental Media and Philanthropic Work: A
Partnership for Sustainable Impact" to mark World Development Information
Day. The event featured media professionals, experts and representatives from charitable
and humanitarian organisations in Qatar.
The seminar, held over two discussion
sessions, explored the media's role in raising awareness about charitable work
and highlighting the impact of humanitarian initiatives on society. It also
addressed the importance of professional media documentation, adherence to
publishing ethics and protection of beneficiaries' privacy.
Participants emphasised the need to improve
media coverage of charitable work and strengthen partnerships between media
organisations and humanitarian entities, helping to highlight the outcomes of
initiatives and convey their message to all segments of society.
The seminar also called for sustained media strategies that promote volunteering and community participation beyond seasonal campaigns, with speakers noting that the success of charitable campaigns should be measured not only by funds raised but by their ability to bring about lasting changes in public awareness and behaviour.
