Doha: To mark the International Day of Older
Persons, Hamad International Airport and the Center for Empowerment and Care of
the Elderly, one of the centres operating under the Qatar Foundation, launched
a joint collaborative programme aimed at enhancing the awareness of older
persons regarding travel procedures, services, and accessibility facilities
available at the airport.
The move contributes to greater independence
and confidence while travelling and provides a smoother, more comfortable, and
inclusive travel experience. It also seeks to reinforce the concept of
inclusion and provide older persons with the opportunity to directly learn
about HIA's facilities, travel services, digital solutions, and the available
channels for requesting assistance throughout the various stages of their
journey.
The programme includes organising periodic
visits for older persons to HIA, featuring guided tours of the airport's
facilities and services dedicated to travellers, as well as awareness sessions
covering key stages of the passenger journey, travel procedures, digital
solutions, and accessibility services. The programme also prioritises listening
to their views and feedback regarding their experience and utilising their
input to further develop future sessions and tours.
Executive Manager of Ehsan, Manal Al Mannai, said the launch of the collaborative programme, coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons, reflects the importance of integrating the roles of community institutions in supporting and empowering older persons. She added that Ehsan is committed to ensuring that older persons are active partners in the development of the services and experiences provided to them. She elaborated that the programme combines awareness, practical experience, and direct engagement with their views and needs, contributing to a smoother, more inclusive experience. This collaboration embodies HIA's commitment to providing an inclusive and accessible travel experience for all passengers.
