Doha:
Artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to make Qatar’s government and
cultural services faster, simpler and more personalised, industry experts said
at the recently concluded Artefact AI Connect Summit.
Layla
Al-Nisf, Director of Planning Quality and Innovation at the General Directorate
of Customs, said AI could simplify government services by handling complex data
processing and assessments in the background. She said customs operations could
become more seamless by 2030 through AI-powered risk assessment and decision
support.
Qatar
Museums Director of Digital Experience Asma Al-Jefairi highlighted AI’s
potential to offer personalised cultural experiences. Initiatives such as the
AI Tour can help visitors explore museums, heritage sites and programmes based
on their interests, while also improving accessibility through multilingual and
conversational tools.
Microsoft Qatar General Manager Ahmed El Dandachi said AI should be used to enhance human capabilities rather than replace people. Experts stressed that Qatar’s AI adoption should focus on improving service quality, accessibility, efficiency and decision-making while maintaining human oversight.
