New
Delhi: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate
courses, conducted 10 days ago, has been cancelled following allegations of a
paper leak, the National Testing Agency announced on Tuesday.
With
the approval of the Government of India, the NTA decided to cancel the May 3
examination and will reconduct the test on dates to be notified separately. No
fresh registration or additional fee will be required, and fees already paid
will be refunded. The re-test will be conducted using NTA's internal resources.
Media reports said around 45 people have been detained by security agencies for interrogation regarding the alleged leak. A "Guess Paper" matching over 150 questions from the actual exam, particularly in Biology and Chemistry, was circulated several days before the examination. Over 2.2 million students had appeared for the test this year.
