Doha, Qatar: Pravasi Welfare
has strongly condemned the situation that led to the cancellation of the
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), stating that the incident has
pushed the future of tens of thousands of students into uncertainty.
In a statement, the
organisation said the issue has especially affected students from Gulf
countries who travelled to India to appear for the examination. The students
and their families had invested significant time, effort, and money in
preparation and travel arrangements, all of which have now gone in vain due to
the cancellation.
The organisation said
such incidents seriously damage the credibility of the country’s education
system. It pointed out that the alleged leakage of question papers in a highly
secure and important examination like NEET exposes the negligence and
incompetence of the responsible authorities. Pravasi Welfare demanded that
those involved in the malpractice be identified immediately and punished
strictly according to the law.
The organisation also
urged authorities to ensure that expatriate students are given sufficient time
before announcing the re-examination date so they can make necessary travel
arrangements. It further called on the government to consider the financial
burden, accommodation expenses, and mental stress faced by students travelling
from abroad, and to take measures to compensate them for the losses suffered.
“Education shapes the dreams and future of children. Such injustices should never be allowed to happen again,” the statement added, while demanding urgent intervention from the government to protect the future of students.
