India stands with Qatar; Ambassador Vipul praises Qatar’s leadership and support during conflict

Doha: The Ambassador of India to the State of Qatar, Mr. Vipul, has expressed deep appreciation to the leadership and government of Qatar for their effective handling of the situation arising from the ongoing regional conflict and attacks targeting the country. In a statement issued on March 13, 2026, the ambassador thanked HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, members of the royal family, and HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani for their decisive actions that ensured the safety and well-being of all residents, including the large Indian community in Qatar.

Ambassador Vipul highlighted that since the conflict began on February 28, the Qatari leadership and authorities have taken swift and reassuring steps to protect residents. He noted that the Ministry of Interior’s timely communication and mobile alert systems have played a crucial role in informing people about precautionary measures during potential attacks, allowing residents to take shelter in advance and reducing anxiety among the public.

He also praised the Qatari armed forces for their role in intercepting and neutralising incoming attacks, helping maintain the country’s security. The ambassador further thanked Qatar’s health authorities for providing prompt medical assistance to an Indian national who was injured during the first day of the conflict.

The ambassador expressed special gratitude to Qatar Airways for supporting a large number of Indian passengers who were stranded in Doha while transiting through Hamad International Airport after the disruption of flights. According to him, the airline arranged hotel accommodations for stranded travellers and ensured their safe departure once limited flights resumed on March 7. He noted that around 3,400 Indian nationals have already travelled from Doha on Qatar Airways flights in recent days, with the airline prioritising emergency cases.

Ambassador Vipul also pointed out that despite the challenges caused by the conflict, Qatar has successfully maintained stable supply chains, ensuring that supermarkets across the country continue to have sufficient food items and medicines. He described this as a reflection of Qatar’s prudent leadership and strong crisis management.

The ambassador noted that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spoken with HH the Amir following the attacks and condemned the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty. India’s External Affairs Minister also held discussions with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, reaffirming India’s solidarity with the people of Qatar.

He further said that during a recent virtual interaction with members of the Indian community in Qatar, many expressed their appreciation for the care and support provided by the Qatari authorities to residents, visitors, and tourists since the beginning of the conflict. Several Indians who were on short-term visits or facing urgent circumstances were able to return to India safely during this period.

Concluding his statement, Ambassador Vipul expressed hope that peace and stability will soon return to Qatar and the wider region, while reaffirming the strong commitment of the Indian community to Qatar, a country that has historically been welcoming and supportive of Indians.
