Iran has announced progress in discussions with Oman on the management of the Strait of Hormuz, following talks between deputy foreign ministers held in Tehran on Friday and Saturday.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the two sides discussed principles and operational mechanisms to ensure safe shipping through the strategic waterway while respecting the sovereign rights of both coastal nations. He described the talks as useful and confirmed that technical and political consultations are continuing.
Baghaei also stated that there has been no change in maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, indicating that shipping operations through the vital global trade route remain normal.
