Washington: US President Donald Trump has said that Iran is currently in talks with the United States and has expressed his willingness to engage in discussions, while reiterating that Tehran must never be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon.
Speaking
at the annual correspondents' dinner in Washington, DC, Trump claimed recent US
military action had significantly weakened Iran's military capabilities, saying
its navy and air force had been largely destroyed, with hundreds of aircraft
and numerous naval vessels lost.
Trump stressed
that preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon remains a key US
objective, warning that Iran would use such a weapon if it obtained one. He
said Washington remains open to dialogue but maintained that Iran cannot be
allowed to develop nuclear arms.
