The World Health Organization (WHO) issued a warning on Thursday regarding the accelerating spread of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo).
The current outbreak is progressing at a faster rate than any previous occurrence of the deadly virus.
Since the outbreak was declared on May 15, over 2,000 cases have been reported, including 796 deaths. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus highlighted that this is now the third-largest Ebola outbreak on record and cautioned that "in the past month, it had expanded faster than any previous outbreak."
