Israel’s
military has launched a major operation in the occupied West Bank, with plans
to carry out mass arrests, demolish homes and forcibly displace residents. The
operation follows an attack at an Israeli military checkpoint near Hebron on
Friday, in which two Israeli soldiers were killed. The two suspected
Palestinian gunmen were shot dead.
Around
300 Palestinian families have been forcibly displaced from their homes in
Hebron’s al-Jalda and Ein Deir Bahha neighbourhoods as Israeli forces continue
their military operations. The developments have raised concerns over the
impact of the operation on civilians and the displacement of residents from
their homes.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces have arrested scores of Palestinians during raids across the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club. Raids have been reported in Ramallah, Jenin, Nablus, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Al-Bireh and Birzeit as the military operation continues.
