Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Labour, in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has recommended that private-sector companies in Qatar implement remote work arrangements for Sunday, March 1, 2026. This advisory applies to all employees whose job roles allow for off-site operations, emphasizing that the safety and security of the workforce remains the state's foremost priority.
For sectors where physical presence is an
operational necessity, the Ministry has granted specific exemptions. These
establishments are permitted to continue on-site work but must strictly comply
with all approved safety protocols. Employers in these fields are tasked with
taking every necessary measure to ensure the highest level of protection for
their personnel during this period.
Additional exemptions include retail outlets and
service-oriented businesses that engage directly with the public, such as
shops, consumer cooperatives, and restaurants. These entities are expected to
remain open to ensure that the community has uninterrupted access to essential
goods and services. The Ministry highlighted the importance of maintaining
these vital supply chains for the public interest.
The Ministry of Labour concluded by commending the
ongoing cooperation between employers and workers across the country. Officials
called upon all stakeholders to act with responsibility, vigilance, and
solidarity under the current circumstances.
