Doha,
Qatar: The girls’ cricket teams of M.E.S. Indian School have made history by
securing gold medals across all three categories: Primary, Preparatory, and
Secondary, at the SOP Cricket Tournament 2026. Organized by the Qatar Cricket
Association, this unprecedented "triple crown" marks the first time
the school has achieved a clean sweep in the competition, highlighting the
rising prominence of girls’ cricket within the institution.
Each
team demonstrated distinct strengths on their path to victory. The Primary
girls’ team, captained by Laiha Hayal, secured a five-wicket win through
seamless coordination. The Preparatory team, led by Isra Rafeeq, showed great
composure to win a narrow three-wicket contest, while the Secondary team, under
the leadership of Jaza Rafeeq, dominated their final with a decisive 50-run
victory. Across the tournament, the players were noted for their discipline,
mental toughness, and technical skill.
Principal Dr. Hameeda Kadar praised the historic achievement, noting that the sweep represents a significant milestone for the school's athletic program. She commended the athletes for their dedication and expressed special appreciation for coach Ms. Kabia Badoni, whose meticulous training and commitment were instrumental in preparing the teams for this level of competition.
