Doha: Students of M.E.S Indian School Abu Hamour Branch showcased outstanding leadership, debating and diplomatic skills at the recently concluded VolMUN Conference for high school students in Qatar, organized by Voltaire French School and hosted at Lusail University.

Around 15 senior students from MESIS participated in the two-day Model United Nations conference, which brought together nearly 300 students from various schools across Qatar. The conference provided a global platform for students to debate international issues, enhance leadership qualities and strengthen public speaking and negotiation skills through committee discussions.

Adding
pride to the school, Rakshnya Murugesan Suganya received the prestigious Best
Delegate Award in the WHA Committee while representing Iraq.
The
MESIS delegation included Abdul Qawi, Aman Sayeed, Rishika Verma, Mannat
Prabhash, Zayba Niyas, Muhammed Hussain Syed, Rayan Raees, Mohammed Bassam,
Farhat Shaikh, Tooba Ladkhan, Syeda Madiha Razvi, Aysha, Rakshnya M.S., Pranav
Rajeev and Hanin El Mutaz. The students represented countries including North
Korea, Brazil, India, the Netherlands, Algeria, Libya, Germany, Sudan and Cuba.
During
the conference, participants actively debated several important global issues
such as preventing the manufacturing and use of chemical and biological
weapons, integrating human rights into post-dictatorial regimes, protecting
healthcare systems in conflict zones, safeguarding the rights of indigenous
communities and ethnic or religious minorities from discrimination and
genocide, and addressing the misuse of cryptocurrencies in money laundering and
transnational organized crime.
School
Principal Mrs. Pramila Kannan congratulated the award winner and all
participating students for their enthusiasm and active involvement in
leadership-oriented academic activities. Teachers Mr. Sujin and Mr. Jojo
Augustine accompanied the students, while Mr. Manmmadhan Mambally, Chief
Coordinator for Students’ External Activities, coordinated the participation
and arrangements for the event.
