Doha, Qatar: The Ministry
of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has launched the Discounted Goods Initiative,
offering reduced prices on more than 1,000 products across major retail outlets
nationwide. The initiative will continue until the end of the holy month of
Ramadan.
The
move reflects the ministry’s efforts to ease the cost of living for citizens
and residents. By introducing the programme earlier than in previous years,
MoCI aims to ensure shoppers can benefit from discounts well ahead of Ramadan.
The
initiative covers a wide range of essential items, including food staples such
as rice, flour, sugar, pasta, chicken, oil and milk, along with non-food
necessities like tissues, cleaning products, detergents and aluminium foil.
Consumers can
identify discounted items through the initiative’s label displayed on store
shelves. The ministry said it will closely monitor retailers for compliance and
urged the public to report any pricing violations through official channels.
