MoPH issues safety guidelines amid heavy rain and thunderstorms

Doha: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has urged residents to take extra precautions as heavy rain and thunderstorms affect parts of the country. The ministry advised the public to remain indoors as much as possible and avoid unnecessary movement, while closely following official weather updates and safety instructions issued by authorities.

Highlighting potential health risks during such conditions, MoPH warned against exposure to floodwater due to contamination risks and emphasized the importance of maintaining hygiene, food safety, and a clean living environment. Residents were also advised to ensure the safety of drinking water and take preventive steps to avoid mold, insects, and other hazards linked to standing water.

Key precautions to follow:

  • Stay indoors and avoid going out unless absolutely necessary
  • Follow official weather updates and government instructions
  • Do not walk or swim in floodwater
  • Avoid touching metal objects during thunderstorms
  • Dry damp areas inside homes to prevent mold growth
  • Discard food exposed to rain or floodwater
  • Keep water tanks covered and disinfect if needed
  • Remove standing water to prevent insects and pests
  • Maintain proper hygiene and wash hands regularly after exposure to floodwater
