Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Labour has expanded its digital services to simplify the process of changing employers, offering a fully electronic system aimed at improving efficiency and transparency.
The Employer Change Service allows resident workers
to transfer within Qatar’s labour market through the Ministry’s official
website. The digital platform is designed to ensure a smooth transition while
maintaining compliance with regulations.
According to the Ministry, applicants must first
verify eligibility. This includes confirming that no ban applies to the worker
or the current employer, that the new employer is actively registered, and that
no other transfer request is pending. Workers are also required to have a
registered mobile number and confirm the absence of any non-compete
restrictions.
The service is accessible via the Individuals Portal
for workers, and the Establishments Portal for authorised company
representatives. Access requires login through the National Authentication
System.
Once an application is submitted, the new employment
contract is recorded and must be approved by both the worker and the
prospective employer. The current employer is then notified and given an
opportunity to provide comments. The Ministry reviews the application along
with any feedback before issuing a decision.
Upon approval, the contract is authenticated, the
required notice period is observed, and the Ministry of Interior updates the
worker’s residency status to reflect the new employment.
Officials said the streamlined process reflects
ongoing efforts to enhance labour mobility while protecting the rights of both
workers and employers. Digitisation aims to reduce administrative delays and
improve accessibility across sectors.
The Ministry urged eligible users to review the detailed guidelines on its platform to ensure accurate submissions and faster processing.
