Doha, Qatar: The Gulf Calicut Passengers Association Qatar (GAPAQ) has called on Indian authorities to urgently review airline operations and enhance connectivity between India and GCC countries, including Qatar, in light of the evolving situation in West Asia. In a formal communication addressed to the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Chief Minister of Kerala, and Members of Parliament from the state, GAPAQ highlighted the need for timely intervention to support passengers.
The association pointed out that
while several foreign airlines have resumed operations in the region, Indian
carriers have yet to scale up their services accordingly. GAPAQ noted that this
gap is causing inconvenience to passengers, especially the large expatriate
community from Kerala residing in Gulf countries.
The letter also urged authorities
to issue necessary instructions to Indian airlines to increase flight
frequencies and restore services to key GCC destinations. GAPAQ emphasized that
improved connectivity is vital for passenger convenience as well as for
maintaining strong economic and social ties between India and the Gulf region.
The matter was discussed in a meeting attended by President KK Usman, General Secretary Farid Thikkodi, Organizing Secretary Abdul Rauf Kondotty, along with members Anwar Sadat TMC, Habeeb Rahman Kizhissery, Ameen Kodiyathur, Mashhood Thiruthiyad, Koya Kondotty, Subair Cherumoth, Shafi Moozhikkal, AR Abdul Rahman, Kareem Haji Memunda and others.
