Doha, Qatar: As the Qatar Meteorology Department forecasts thundery rain and strong winds across the country, various government bodies have issued comprehensive safety protocols to protect the public. The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has specifically advised motorists to reduce speeds, avoid overtaking in wet conditions, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles to prevent collisions. Drivers are also warned not to attempt to drive through large water puddles, as their depth can be deceptive and hazardous.

In
tandem with traffic safety, the Ministry of Municipality has urged residents to
perform maintenance on their properties by cleaning rooftops and checking
drainage systems regularly. Pedestrians are advised to stay clear of open drainage
holes and electrical sources in parks or streets, particularly in waterlogged
areas. To assist the community, the ministry has activated its 'OUN' app for
reporting water accumulation and provided a dedicated customer care helpline at
184, with emergency teams operating around the clock.
Furthermore,
the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) confirmed that its monitoring teams are
working 24/7 to ensure that major highways and tunnels remain free of
rainwater. Residents can report any drainage issues or road concerns by calling
the Ashghal helpline at 188, or by reaching out through their social
media channels and customer service email. These coordinated efforts aim to
minimize disruption as the country manages the current spell of unstable
weather.
