New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has
become the longest-serving head of an elected government in India, completing
8,931 days in office. The milestone combines his tenure as Chief Minister of
Gujarat and as Prime Minister.
With
this achievement, he has surpassed Pawan Kumar Chamling, who held office for
8,930 days. The record marks nearly 25 years of continuous leadership in public
office.
Narendra
Modi first took office as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001 and later became the
14th Prime Minister of India in 2014. He has since secured three consecutive
electoral victories, in 2014, 2019, and 2024, reinforcing his long-standing
political mandate.
The
milestone highlights his enduring presence in Indian politics, along with his
influence both nationally and globally, including a strong digital following
across major social media platforms.
