Doha, Qatar: In a vibrant celebration of Arab and Islamic artistic traditions, Qatar National Library (QNL) has launched an Arabic Calligraphy Contest, inviting the community to explore and express the timeless beauty of Arabic script. The contest seeks to engage participants through creative interpretations inspired by QNL’s rich Heritage Library collection.
Participants
are encouraged to craft artworks based on one of five selected Arabic verses or
texts, using traditional calligraphic scripts such as Naskh, Thuluth, or
Diwani. The initiative aims to foster a deeper appreciation for classical
Arabic calligraphy and its cultural significance.
Open
to all nationals and residents of Qatar aged 16 and above, the contest requires
entrants to hold a valid QNL membership. Submissions may be either hand-drawn
(scanned in high resolution) or digitally created, strictly in A4 or A3
formats. However, AI-generated artworks will not be accepted, ensuring the
authenticity and skill of each entry.
All artworks must be submitted through the official contest form by July 20, 2025. Public voting will follow via QNL’s Instagram Stories from July 27 to August 7, 2025, allowing the wider community to engage with the contest. The final winner will be announced on August 13, 2025, coinciding with the global celebration of World Calligraphy Day.
