Doha: The Qatar Sports for
All Federation (QSFA), under the Ministry of Sports and Youth, has launched a
new three-month initiative called "Sports for All Oasis" at Ruqaya
Preparatory School for Girls in Umm Al Seneem, aimed at boosting sports participation
among women and girls of all ages. Running weekly from Sunday to Wednesday,
4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the program is supervised entirely by a female
administrative and technical team, offering a private, welcoming environment
tailored to different age groups.
Activities include
football, volleyball, badminton, basketball, fitness classes, walking sessions,
bodyweight strength training, and stretching and balance exercises, giving
participants a range of options suited to their ages and physical abilities.
QSFA Executive Director
Abdullah Al Dosari said the initiative reflects the Ministry's commitment to
supporting women's sports and broadening participation, adding that the program
is designed to respect participants' privacy while encouraging a lasting connection
with physical activity. He noted that women-focused sports events have become a
core part of the Federation's agenda, with roughly 38 tournaments and events
organized for women and girls over the summer alone.
Al Dosari described the new Oasis program as an extension of that effort, combining sports and recreation to motivate women and girls to make physical activity part of their everyday lifestyle.
