Aichi-Nagoya: Qatar's shooting team has secured two gold medals in the men's skeet competition, both in the individual and team events, at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games being held in Japan until October 4.

The first gold was won by the Qatari skeet team comprising Rashed Saleh Al Athba, Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah, and Ali Ishaq, who topped the standings with a score of 353 targets, ahead of Kuwait with 348 targets (silver) and India with 346 targets (bronze). Rashed Saleh Al Athba then added a second gold for Qatar by winning the individual title, scoring 34 targets in the final round to set a new Asian record. China's Lyu Jianlin took silver with 33 targets, while Chinese Taipei's Lee Meng-Yuan earned bronze with 29 targets.

President of Qatar Shooting and Archery Federation Dr. Mishaal Al Nasr expressed his delight at the achievement, describing the two gold medals as a significant milestone for Qatari shooting and sports. He dedicated the achievement to the wise leadership of the State of Qatar and to HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, adding that Qatari youth are ready whenever they receive support and that the results confirm Qatari shooting is on the right track. He said the achievement serves as an incentive to continue working during upcoming events.
