India have clinched the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 title with a comprehensive 72-run victory over Sri Lanka in the final in Dubai on Sunday. The triumph marks India’s record-extending eighth Women’s Asia Cup title and also avenges their defeat to Sri Lanka in the 2024 final.

Batting first, India posted an imposing 183 for 5 in their 20 overs, powered by a record 129-run opening partnership between Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma. Shafali produced an explosive innings, reaching her half-century off just 24 balls before finishing with 68 runs from 39 deliveries.

Mandhana also played a crucial role, completing her half-century off 35 balls and scoring 59 before being run out. The dominant opening stand gave India a strong platform and helped them set Sri Lanka a challenging target in the title clash.

Sri Lanka struggled to keep up with the required run rate during the chase as India’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings. Shree Charani led the attack with four wickets, while Deepti Sharma claimed three, helping India complete a convincing 72-run victory and lift the Asia Cup trophy in style.
