Riyadh: Saudi
Arabia and Britain signed a joint declaration of intent on Tuesday aimed at
supporting children injured as a result of the military escalation in the Gaza
Strip, through the provision of emergency surgical care and treatment.
The
signing ceremony took place during a meeting between Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah,
Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center
(KSrelief), and Jenny Chapman, UK Minister for International Development at the
Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, on the sidelines of the Global
Partnerships Conference 2026 in London.
Under the declaration, the bilateral strategic partnership will be expanded to fund and implement humanitarian projects dedicated to caring for injured children in Gaza, where the ongoing events have resulted in a growing number of child amputees and an ongoing need for prosthetic limb replacements as children continue to grow. The declaration will also facilitate the provision of emergency surgical care, support healthcare infrastructure, strengthen infection prevention and control measures, and provide operational support and training for medical personnel. These initiatives will be implemented by Imperial College London.
