Ministry of Public Health Issues Health Guidelines for Hajj Pilgrims

Doha: The Ministry of Public Health has released important health guidelines for pilgrims preparing for Hajj, urging them to focus on physical fitness, healthy eating, and medical preparedness before travel. The ministry advised pilgrims to begin regular walking and gradually increase their daily step count to between 8,000 and 10,000 steps to improve stamina for the pilgrimage rituals.

The ministry also recommended maintaining a balanced diet, reducing unhealthy foods and drinks, and visiting a doctor before travel, especially for elderly pilgrims and those with chronic illnesses. Pilgrims were further advised to carry a medical kit and complete a dental check-up before departure.

Main Guidelines for Pilgrims:

  • Begin regular walking and increase daily steps to 8,000–10,000.
  • Follow a healthy and balanced diet including all six food groups.
  • Reduce foods and drinks high in sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats.
  • Visit a doctor before travel, especially for elderly pilgrims and those with chronic illnesses.
  • Carry a medical kit with first-aid supplies and necessary medications.
