Doha: Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye have signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, a landmark security pact that declares an armed attack on any one of the three countries will be considered an attack on all. The agreement was signed in Mecca following high-level meetings involving Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The three nations said the agreement reflects their shared commitment to strengthening collective security and promoting peace, stability and regional cooperation amid ongoing conflicts and heightened tensions across the Middle East.

The pact builds on decades of military cooperation among the three countries. Pakistan has long provided training and technical support to Saudi forces, while Türkiye has expanded defence ties with both Saudi Arabia and Pakistan through joint military cooperation and defence exports.

Analysts say the agreement marks a significant step towards a new regional security framework by combining Saudi Arabia's economic influence, Pakistan's military capabilities and Türkiye's advanced defence technology. The three countries maintain that the alliance is purely defensive and aims to enhance regional stability rather than target any specific nation.
