Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has urged US President Donald Trump to prioritize diplomatic dialogue to de-escalate tensions in the region amid US-Iran hostilities, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Sunday.
This call follows Trump's decision to cancel a new wave of military strikes against Iran, citing progress towards a diplomatic agreement and appeals from Tehran and other Middle Eastern nations to refrain from military action.
In a phone conversation with Trump, the Crown Prince emphasized the "necessity of prioritizing the language of dialogue to de-escalate" and highlighted the importance of making every effort to achieve calmness, paving the way for diplomatic solutions. SPA reported that such an approach could "yield positive results for maintaining the security and stability of the region and prevent it from being drawn into a wider conflict."
