Saudi Arabia's armed forces, in coordination with the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), on Wednesday, executed precision strikes against Iran-backed militia targets in Iraq. These strikes were in response to recent drone attacks targeting the Kingdom's oil facilities, as announced by the Ministry of Defense.
Defense Ministry spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Malki stated that the operation was prompted by attempted drone attacks on oil facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh region earlier this week. Saudi air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed the drones on Monday and Tuesday. He detailed that the attacks were launched from Iraqi territory by Iran-backed terrorist militias.
