Trump says 'good chance' of progress in Iran talks as two sides hold fire for third consecutive day

U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday expressed optimism about the potential for a negotiated peace deal with Iran. This comes as both nations observed a ceasefire for the third straight day. Speaking aboard Air Force One, President Trump stated, “I have a lot of patience… We'll see what happens. I think there is a good chance that something could happen.”

However, Tehran has earlier denied any ongoing negotiations with the U.S. to resolve the conflict. "Mediators may convey messages from the American side to us regarding current developments in the region. But at present, we are not engaged in any negotiations with the United States," said Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei.
