Doha: The first day of Eid Al-Fitr in Qatar is expected to fall on March 20, according to astronomical calculations released by the Qatar Calendar House.

Specialists at the centre said the crescent moon marking the beginning of the month of Shawwal is expected to appear on March 19. Based on these calculations, the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid celebrations are likely to occur the following day.

Experts also explained that the moon is not expected to be visible in Qatar on the evening of March 18, which means Ramadan will likely complete its full period before the new month begins.

However, officials noted that the final announcement of Eid will depend on the traditional moon-sighting process carried out by the Crescent Sighting Committee under the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

Residents usually wait for the official confirmation from authorities, which will be made after the moon is observed on the designated evening.
