Doha: The General Directorate of Traffic under the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has announced a significant enhancement to the vehicle ownership transfer system, which can now be completed entirely through the Metrash mobile application.

This latest upgrade aims to make the process faster, more secure, and user-friendly, eliminating paperwork and reducing the need for in-person visits - all in alignment with Qatar’s national digital transformation strategy.

Under the new system, vehicle ownership can be transferred seamlessly via the Metrash app, provided the vehicle has a valid registration and no outstanding traffic violations. One of the key new features is a buyer confirmation step, which ensures that ownership is not transferred without the explicit approval of the buyer, thus enhancing transparency and control for both parties.

Step-by-Step Process:

The seller initiates the process by logging into the Metrash app, navigating to the Traffic Services section, and selecting Ownership Transfer under the Vehicles tab.

After entering the necessary details, the sale request is submitted.

The buyer receives a notification and must approve the request through their own Metrash app.

Upon buyer approval, the seller pays the applicable fee, completing the transfer digitally.

Officials emphasized that this enhancement not only simplifies the process but also aligns with the government’s goal of providing convenient, efficient, and secure digital services for all citizens and residents.

Developed by the Ministry of Interior, the Metrash app—now upgraded from the previous version, Metrash2—offers a wide range of e-services through a modern, biometric-secured interface. It supports multiple languages including Arabic, English, French, Malayalam, Urdu, and Spanish, ensuring accessibility for Qatar's diverse population.
