Doha: The Public Works Authority, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, has commenced the Hamad General Hospital Upgrade Project, with a total value of approximately QR1.179 billion.

The project aims to comprehensively upgrade the hospital's facilities and systems, enhance operational readiness and efficiency, improve safety standards, and create a better healthcare environment, supporting the delivery of a wide range of medical services in line with the highest healthcare, engineering, and technical standards.

Eng. Ahmed Al Emadi, Acting Head of the Health Projects Section at Ashghal's Building Projects Department, said the project is one of the authority's key strategic initiatives to strengthen Qatar's healthcare infrastructure. He said it will modernise Hamad General Hospital through three major project packages, improving the efficiency of its facilities and systems while enhancing operational safety.

Hamad Al Khalifa, Head of Healthcare Facilities Development at Hamad Medical Corporation, said the project forms part of HMC's ongoing efforts to modernise its facilities and infrastructure in line with the continued development of healthcare services and the growing needs of patients and visitors. Project Engineer Eng. Maryam Al Marzouqi said Ashghal had officially commenced work on the project, which is scheduled for completion and handover in the third quarter of 2029.
