HE Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums Sheikha Al Mayassa
bint Hamad Al-Thani has highlighted the role of culture in building bridges
between peoples, promoting dialogue and strengthening resilience during times
of crisis. She stressed the importance of continuing to support artists and
creators while amplifying the voices of marginalised communities, including
Palestinians.
Speaking
during a panel discussion titled “When Culture Transcends Borders” at the
“Global Perspectives: In Doha” event, she said Qatar remains committed to its
cultural programmes despite global challenges. She noted that cultural
platforms provide safe spaces for creative expression, encourage mutual
understanding and help reduce tensions.
Addressing
the Palestinian cause, Sheikha Al Mayassa said Palestine has always been a
priority for HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation. She
highlighted Qatar's support for Palestinian academics, educators and artists,
including filmmakers, and reaffirmed the importance of upholding human dignity
and ensuring that marginalised voices are heard.
She also emphasised that Qatar's cultural strategy focuses on nurturing local and Arab talent while welcoming international artists to promote knowledge exchange and collaboration.
