Doha, Qatar: The 12th edition of the Naseem Healthcare Presents Chaliyar Doha Sports Fest was held in a vibrant and competitive atmosphere at Al Wakra Sports Club, marking Qatar National Sports Day with enthusiasm and unity. Qatar Urngattiri Pravasi Association emerged as the overall champions for the second consecutive year, securing 45.6 points. Kodiyathur Panchayat finished as runners-up with 21.25 points, while Keezhuparambu Panchayat claimed third place with 20.1 points.

The colorful March Past witnessed spirited participation from various panchayats under the Chaliyar region. In the overall panchayat category, Urngattiri Panchayat secured first place, followed by Edavanna Panchayat in second and Kodiyathur Panchayat in third.

One of the most thrilling events of the day, the tug-of-war competition, saw intense action with Urngattiri clinching first place, Kodiyathur finishing second, and Edavanna taking third. Football enthusiasts were treated to a fiercely contested final where Kodiyathur defeated Vazhakkad 3–2 to lift the championship trophy. Cheekode and Mampad shared third place in the football tournament.

The 4x100 meters relay added further excitement to the event, with Mampad securing first place, Vazhakkad finishing second, and Keezhuparambu taking third.

A wide range of individual competitions were also conducted, including men’s pentathlon, 100 meters sprint, 1500 meters race, swimming, women’s penalty shootout, basketball throw, running races for boys and girls, and basketball throw for girls. Adding charm and joy to the celebration, fun-filled games for children under nine years of age drew enthusiastic participation and applause from families and spectators.

The official function was presided over by Chaliyar Doha President C.T. Siddique Cheruvadi. General Secretary Sabikhusalam Edavanna delivered the welcome address. The sports fest was inaugurated by Al Wakra Sports Club President Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani. Ministry of Labour Relations Specialist Khalid Abdulrahman Fakhru attended as the chief guest.

Among the dignitaries present were ICBP President Taha Mohammed, ISC Secretary Basheer Thuvarikkal, Marine Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Company Director and Chaliyar Doha Chief Patron Shaukathali T.A.J., Founder President V.C. Mashhood Thiruthiyad, Chief Advisor Zamil Abdul Wahid, Women’s Wing President Muhsina Zamil, and Naeem Mullungal. Treasurer Abdul Azeez Cheruvannur proposed the vote of thanks.

The grand sporting celebration once again reflected the unity, sportsmanship, and community spirit of the Chaliyar expatriate community in Qatar, making Season 12 a memorable success.
