Doha, Qatar: Government College Madappally Alumni Qatar (GMAQ), representing one of Kerala’s oldest and most renowned institutions - Government College Madappally in Vadakara - will be officially launched tomorrow (Friday) in Doha. The inaugural event, titled Reconnect, will take place at the DPS School Auditorium in Al Wakrah, marking a significant milestone for the Madappally alumni community in Qatar.

Vadakara
natives form a vibrant and influential segment of the Malayali expatriate
community in Qatar, with thousands of alumni from Madappally College currently
residing in Doha. GMAQ has been formed with the objective of bringing all
former students under one unified platform, fostering stronger bonds,
networking opportunities, and collective initiatives that reflect the legacy
and values of their alma mater.
A
major highlight of the evening will be the felicitation of Dr. Gokulam Gopalan,
a distinguished alumnus of Madappally College and a prominent figure with an
illustrious presence in trade, industry, education, healthcare, and cinema. In
addition, four Madappally College alumni in Qatar who have completed forty
years of expatriate life will also be honoured during the ceremony in
recognition of their long-standing contributions and achievements.
The event will also witness the release of a
special souvenir featuring articles related to Madappally and literary works by
several talented writers. Adding to the celebratory spirit, an array of musical
performances has been arranged, featuring playback singers Vijesh Gopal, Chitra
Arun, Vishnu Vardhan, and Kritika. Farisha Hussain will enthrall the audience
with her Mappila songs, while Sudhan Kaiveli - himself an alumnus of Madappally
College - will further enrich the musical evening.
Khalid
Abdulrahman Al Fakhru, a senior official of the Ministry of Labor, will attend
as the chief guest. Details of the event were shared at a press conference
attended by Dr. Gokulam Gopalan, Organizing Committee Chairman Ashiq Ahmed,
General Convener Sreenath Parambath, GMAQ President Faisal Keloth, General
Secretary Biju CK, Treasurer Noushad, Concord Manager Jubeesh, and Rehaab Media
Director Shafi Parakkal. The organisers expressed confidence that Reconnect
will mark the beginning of a dynamic and enduring alumni movement in Qatar
