New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Wednesday warned that its nationwide agitation over the alleged examination paper leak and the detention of opposition leaders would intensify if the Centre fails to address the protesters' demands. CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the movement would continue and that "millions more" people would gather in Delhi if the government did not respond, asserting that the protesters would not remain silent this time.

Nationwide protests continue

Protests were held across several states, including Assam, Kerala, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana and Jharkhand, condemning the detention of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other opposition leaders. The leaders were taken into custody on Tuesday after marching towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in support of the CJP protest and were later released.

Centre open to debate, rejects resignation demand

The Centre signalled its willingness to hold a discussion in Parliament on the NEET paper leak issue but ruled out the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, describing the demand as political. Government sources said corrective measures had already been taken following the alleged leak and maintained that admissions under major entrance examinations were progressing as scheduled.

Opposition steps up Parliament protest

Opposition MPs from the Congress and the Samajwadi Party staged a protest at Makar Dwar in Parliament on Wednesday, wearing black attire to protest the alleged manhandling of students and lawmakers during Monday's demonstrations. The coordinated protest marked another escalation in the ongoing confrontation between the Opposition and the Centre over the paper leak issue.
