The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a nationwide protest from October 2 if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign by Saturday, September 26. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said the movement will begin in Mumbai and later spread to cities across India.

“If Gyanesh Kumar does not resign by tomorrow, CJP will begin its nationwide protest from Mumbai on 2 October,” Dipke wrote on X, calling on people to “pledge to save democracy” on Gandhi Jayanti.

Dipke had on Thursday demanded Kumar’s resignation and threatened a “Jantar Mantar 2.0” agitation. The demand followed reports that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had formally objected at least 14 times over the past 10 months to various Election Commission decisions, including those concerning voter additions, deletions and registration procedures.
