Donald Trump was sworn in for a historic second term as president on Monday, where he outlined a series of immediate executive orders addressing immigration and cultural issues in the United States, marking a significant chapter in his political journey.
With one hand raised and the other on a Bible presented to him by his mother, Trump took the oath of office in the impressive Rotunda of the US Capitol.
In a notable moment of civility, both Trump and outgoing Democratic President Joe Biden traveled together to the Capitol by motorcade, where the ceremony took place indoors — a departure from tradition due to the unusually cold weather, resulting in a reduced audience size. Prior to the inauguration, both families met for a customary tea at the White House.
As they welcomed their successors to the presidential residence, President Biden greeted Trump by saying, “Welcome home,” accompanied by First Lady Jill Biden.
