Qatar has been placed in Group B, 3rd position for the FIFA World Cup 2026, joining Canada, Switzerland, and the winner of playoff A, which could be Italy, Northern Ireland, Wales, or Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Qatar's journey in Group B will commence with a match against Switzerland on Saturday, 13 June 2026, at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium. They will later face the second team from the playoff in Los Angeles on Thursday, 18 June, followed by a match against Canada on Wednesday, 24 June, at BC Place Vancouver.
Under the tournament's new format, the top two teams from each of the 12 groups will advance to the Round of 32, along with the eight best third-placed teams.
Qatar secured its spot in the World Cup by topping Group A in the fourth round of Asian qualifying, outperforming Oman and the United Arab Emirates. This marks Qatar's second consecutive World Cup appearance and the first achieved through qualification, following their debut as host nation in the 2022 edition.
The tournament is set to be hosted jointly by the United States, Mexico, and Canada from 11 June to 19 July 2026.
