The Gulf Railway Authority has confirmed that the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries are diligently working to complete the Gulf Railway Project by December 2030.
Speaking at the Global Rail 2025 Exhibition and Congress in Abu Dhabi, Mohammed bin Fahad al-Shabrami, Director General of the Gulf Railway Authority, emphasized the strategic importance of this project. Spanning approximately 2,117 km, the railway will connect all six GCC countries, forming a crucial part of the regional transport system.
Al-Shabrami highlighted that the GCC countries are collaborating closely to synchronize the project's phases, ensuring it integrates seamlessly with national infrastructure projects. This integration aims to enhance connectivity within the GCC and beyond, linking key ports and logistics centers. The project is expected to significantly boost the regional economy by facilitating the movement of goods and people across member states.
