Doha, Qatar: Hamad International Airport (DOH) has installed its first public Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station at the ground level of the Airport’s East car park. The fast charger, capable of serving two vehicles simultaneously with up to 50 kW of power, provides approximately 125 km of driving range in just 30 minutes.
The
initiative was implemented in collaboration with KAHRAMAA under the National
Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency, ‘Tarsheed’, supporting Qatar
National Vision 2030’s goal of reducing carbon emissions by 25 percent. Drivers
can access charging points, check real-time status, and manage sessions through
the Tarsheed Smart EV mobile app.
HIA’s Senior VP of Facilities Management, Omar Najari, emphasized the airport’s commitment to sustainability and energy-efficient practices. KAHRAMAA’s Eng. Rashid Alrahimi highlighted the collaboration as part of building a cleaner, greener transportation ecosystem in Qatar. The airport plans to expand the EV charging initiative as part of its long-term sustainability roadmap
