Doha, Qatar: Old Doha Port has announced the launch of “Move”, a first-of-its-kind sports and wellness festival aimed at promoting physical activity and health awareness within the community. Organised in collaboration with NO LIMITS, a Qatari company specialising in sports races and events, the six-day festival will be held from February 5 to 10 at Mina Park, leading up to and concluding on Qatar National Sports Day.
Inspired
by the widely used Qatari expression “Tarayyad,” which refers to engaging in physical
activity, Move
draws from both local dialect and classical Arabic roots. The term reflects how
movement is naturally embedded in daily life and reinforces the festival’s
culturally grounded message of embracing a healthier, more active lifestyle.
This linguistic connection adds a unique local identity to the festival while
aligning with modern health and wellness values.
The
festival will feature seven dedicated zones offering a diverse range of
activities for all age groups. Highlights include daily panel discussions with
athletes and sports professionals, fitness classes, retail spaces for sports
products, healthy cafés and restaurants, a children’s activity area, and
recovery and relaxation zones. A key attraction will be a running race along the Mina
Corniche on Saturday, February 7, with registration available
through the social media platforms of Old Doha Port and NO LIMITS.
Commenting on
the initiative, Engineer
Mohammed Abdulla Al Mulla, CEO of Old Doha Port, said the
festival reflects the port’s commitment to promoting sport as a way of life and
positioning the port as a hub for sport, health, and recreation. By launching Move
ahead of National Sports Day, Old Doha Port aims to encourage broad community
participation in accessible and structured wellness programmes. The festival
also supports the Human
Development pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030, reinforcing
national efforts to promote healthier and more active lifestyles.
