New Delhi: After four days of escalating hostilities, India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire, halting all military action on land, air, and sea effective from 5 pm. The announcement was confirmed by Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who stated that the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both countries reached the agreement and issued instructions to implement the ceasefire.
The
development followed a public announcement by former U.S. President Donald
Trump, who revealed the ceasefire on his Truth Social platform, crediting
American mediation for the breakthrough. “After a long night of talks mediated
by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have
agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,” Trump wrote, praising both nations
for their wisdom and restraint.
India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirmed that both countries have “worked out an understanding” to stop military actions, while reiterating India’s firm stance against terrorism. Although this agreement marks a crucial step toward de-escalation, officials have clarified that no talks are planned on other issues at this time.
