IndiGo restores full operations after week-long disruptions

IndiGo announced that its operations have returned to normal after more than a week of severe disruptions that led to widespread flight cancellations and left thousands of passengers stranded. The airline confirmed that its on-time performance is back to standard levels and it plans to operate nearly 1,900 flights on Wednesday.

In a statement, IndiGo said all flights listed on its website would operate under an adjusted network as part of its recovery plan. The airline, battling one of the worst operational crises since its launch in 2006, also introduced an automated refund system to help affected passengers receive their money back quickly and easily.

CEO Pieter Elbers reassured customers that the airline is “back on its feet,” noting that despite nearly 500 cancellations on Tuesday, teams have been working on a “war footing” to restore operations. He apologised to passengers for the disruptions and confirmed an internal review is underway to understand the causes of the crisis.

The airline highlighted steady progress over the past few days, increasing flights from just 700 on December 5 to more than 1,800 by Tuesday. IndiGo said it is now flying to all 138 destinations in its network, marking full stabilisation ahead of its earlier projected timeline.
