A woman has died in UP’s Barabanki after an illegal clinic owner and his nephew allegedly conducted surgery on her by following a YouTube tutorial, the police report. The unauthorized clinic has been sealed by authorities.

The victim, Munishra Rawat, was suffering from a stone-related ailment. On December 5, her husband, Tehbahadur Rawat, took her to Shri Damodar Aushdhalaya in Kothi, where clinic operator Gyan Prakash Mishra purportedly diagnosed her abdominal pain as being caused by stones and recommended surgery.

Mishra estimated the procedure would cost Rs 25,000, and police noted that the husband had paid Rs 20,000 before the surgery commenced.
