Katara Art Center announces launch of new season with two art exhibitions in September

Doha, Qatar: Katara Art Center has announed the launch of its new season with the launch of two captivating art exhibitions on September 2, which are set to run until October 7 at the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) headquarters.

The season opens with a group exhibition titled "Fractures of the Future," showcasing the works of four artists: Samah Azzam, Ahmed Al Jufairi, Moza Al Kuwari, and Fatima Mohammed. This exhibition delves into the artists' visions of the future and their responses to current societal challenges.

Their artworks spark a dialogue on reimagining the future from diverse and contrasting perspectives, employing strategies such as science fiction, systems thinking, oral history, and material experimentation. These methods aim not only to predict the future but also to address urgent social, economic, and environmental issues like the climate crisis and land exploitation, urging for transformative changes.

The second exhibition is a solo endeavor by visual artist Hessa Al Kuwari, titled "The Lounge: What Can a Room Remember!" This marks her debut exhibition and explores the significance of the living room in everyday life. Through painting, photography, and installation, the exhibition highlights the patterns, objects, furniture, clothing, and rituals that inhabit these spaces, inviting contemplation and observation of what might initially seem ordinary and familiar.

Both exhibitions promise to offer thought-provoking insights and a platform for cultural dialogue, reflecting on the present and envisioning the future.
