Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has once again called on all bicycle riders in the country to strictly follow cycling safety rules in order to protect themselves and others on the road. The appeal was issued via the ministry’s official social media channels, - reminding the public that following simple safety steps can significantly reduce the risk of traffic accidents.
In
its posts, the MoI highlighted key safety measures that every cyclist should
observe:
• Always wear a protective helmet
and a reflective vest to
increase visibility to motorists and other road users.
• Equip your bicycle with fixed lights
- essential for riding safely at night or in low-light conditions.
• Stick to designated bicycle lanes
and ride on the right-hand side of the road, as required by traffic
regulations.
The
MoI also reiterated that obeying all traffic rules - just like drivers -
remains crucial for cyclists, including stopping at traffic signals and
avoiding risky behaviours like riding against the flow or weaving between
vehicles. These safety reminders are part of the ministry’s broader campaign to
raise awareness about road safety and protect all road users in Qatar.
Officials say that by adopting safe cycling habits and using appropriate gear, cyclists not only improve their personal safety but also contribute to smoother, safer traffic conditions for everyone.
